What We Do

Fighting irregular migration

COOPI is contributing to prevent and reduce the phenomenon of irregular migration in the regions of North Bank and Central River thanks to the project "No more back way".

Community members, young people and returnees participate in training sessions, discussion groups, sports events and documentary screenings, to show the risks associated with irregular migration and inform young people about job opportunities in Gambia, in collaboration with YAIM - Youth Against Irregular Migration, a local association of returning migrants.

COOPI team also provides individual psychosocial support to returning migrants, through counselling, awareness-raising campaigns, psycho-education and family mediation sessions, thus fostering processes of developing life and professional skills, while promoting sustainable reintegration pathways.
