COOPI operates with experienced teams whose members demonstrate motivation and a strong interest in putting their professional skills at the service of humanitarian action.
Humanitarian workers employed by COOPI in the field are expected to demonstrate adaptability, the ability to deal with complex situations, resilience under pressure, and a willingness to go beyond their assigned duties when necessary.
The professionals involved in projects across Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean include administrative specialists (finance, audit, compliance, and logistics); project and programme management professionals (Heads of Mission, Programme Coordinators, Project Managers, Geographic and/or Sector Coordinators, and Security Coordinators); as well as consultants and technical experts.
SELECTION PROCESS
The recruitment process follows a standardized procedure to ensure fairness and transparency. Applications are accepted exclusively through the website by completing a dedicated online application form and are carefully screened against the requirements of the vacancy.
Only shortlisted candidates are contacted for an initial HR interview. Candidates who successfully pass the first interview proceed to the next stages of the selection process. Depending on the role, a technical assessment may be required to evaluate specific competencies.

Over the years, COOPI has developed collaborations and partnerships with various Master’s programmes and universities in order to offer opportunities to young people aspiring to enter the cooperation and humanitarian aid sector.
For students enrolled in university courses, Master’s programmes, and specialised schools related to the sectors in which COOPI operates, it is possible to activate curricular internships both at the headquarters in Italy and abroad. These internships have an average duration of six months; throughout the training period, interns are supervised by their tutor in order to progressively acquire greater practical experience.
For the Milan headquarters, COOPI also evaluates the possibility of extracurricular internships for junior profiles who have already completed their studies.
Each year, COOPI participates in the calls for applications under the Universal Civil Service in order to host 12-month training programmes within some departments of its headquarters. The call for applications is published on COOPI’s website, and applications must be submitted to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service within the deadlines set by the call, carefully following the provided instructions.
