What We Do

Help Gaza

Since the escalation of violence in October 2023, the humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated dramatically. 94% of hospitals have been damaged or destroyed, medical supplies are depleted, and over 1.9 million people have been displaced. Thousands of families live in overcrowded shelters without access to medical care, clean water, or psychological support. In this context, community-based response efforts—led by young volunteers—represent the only available lifeline.

The “Help Gaza” project aims to provide emergency medical and psychosocial assistance to 155,000 people in need, by training and strengthening the response capacity of youth through the ongoing activities of COOPI’s partner, Education For Employment – Palestine (EFE-Palestine).

Expected results include:

  • Providing direct medical and psychosocial assistance across Gaza through emergency care and community-based interventions led by trained youth;
  • Expanding training coverage to reach new participants, strengthening the group of community responders able to address local needs;
  • Reinforcing local healthcare service provision by integrating trained youth into existing service networks;
  • Promoting knowledge sharing and best practices among young people to ensure that humanitarian capacity remains rooted within Gaza’s communities even after the project ends.

This project is implemented in collaboration with Efe Palestine and is funded by COOPI Suisse:
