Jordan. BOTHOOR project successfully starts: training and support for struggling entrepreneurs
In Jordan, COOPI- Cooperazione Internazionale's project “BOTHOOR– Inclusive growth and development of Micro-enterprises and Economic Empowerment in the Jordanian Governorates”, funded by The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), launched its first activity: the digital marketing and branding training set for entrepreneurs among Syrian refugees and the most vulnerable Jordanians. The first set of training targeted 120 beneficiaries who had previously benefited from the SAQEL project, implemented by COOPI between March 2022 and December 2023, and financed by AICS with the aim of supporting them in longer term success, demonstrating COOPI’s commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment.
Asma Hamra, A Syrian refugee aged 38 years old, mother of 4 and the head of household for her family, started her home-based business in food processing using her talent for cooking to sell delicious meals to her neighbors. Her efforts quickly gained her a good reputation.
The "Saqel" project helped Asmaa grow her business by providing her with the necessary equipment for her kitchen, which allowed her to expand her menu to include popular Italian foods like pasta and pizza. Additionally, Asmaa took part in the “Bothoor” project for branding and marketing training. This helped her improve her marketing strategies and keep up with the latest trends in branding, making her business even more successful.
After all the losses we faced, now I am able to provide for my family from my own business”
Asma said.
Fatima Rajeh, a Jordanian woman aged 42 started her own business to support her family of 7 members. Fatima's passion for Arabic cuisine and desserts inspired her journey, and with COOPI's guidance, she mastered the essentials of business and financial management, branding, and marketing, transforming her culinary dreams into a successful reality.
The project helped me talk to customers better and boosted my self-confidence"
said Fatima.
After the in-kind support from COOPI last year during the SAQEL project, Fatima's kitchen became busy with orders, and people loved her food. Being a beneficiary of BOTHOOR, she kept learning, especially about making her own brand identity, and market her delicious meals online.
Bothoor project started in February this year with a clear mission to support entrepreneurs among the most vulnerable Jordanians and refugees across Jordan (Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Rusaifa, Balqa, Tafileh, Zarqa, Mafraq, and Karak) to improve their existing businesses, start new ones, and achieve economic stability that enables them to support their families and lead a better life.
