Chad. More than 3000 textbooks donated thanks to French Government
In November 2021, COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale organised an official ceremony of symbolic distribution at the Provincial Delegation of National Education in Bol, where it provided textbooks to students and teachers of 14 schools in Mamdi department, in the Lake Province, Chad. “It was the first time an NGO intervened with such a donation to support schools in the region", explains PM Oumarou Boka .
The official ceremony was attended by – among others - the Secretary General of the province representing the Governor, the Prefect of Mamdi, the sub-prefect of Bol, the provincial delegate of education and the various inspectors, the head of the canton and last but not least the teachers of the beneficiary schools - all of them with very supportive and encouraging messages.
Donation is part of the educational component of the project "Building the Future through Holistic Early Childhood Development (ADELAC)", financed by the French Development Agency, which work to improve access, quality and governance of the system in the Lake Province, particularly in the Mamdi Department.
Within the framework of the implementation of the project, COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale cooperates through a consortium composed of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and the Initiative Développement et Partenariat pour l'Appui et le Développement des Innovations en Éducation, Santé et Environnement (PADIESE), by intervening in 14 schools of the department.
In this context, COOPI is pursuing several activities to bring about a significant change in the field of education, notably by providing schools with textbooks, teaching aids, such as teachers' guides and teaching materials. These materials for students and teachers are composed of 3010 textbooks for all subjects from the 1st year preparatory course (CP1) to the 2nd year intermediate course (CM2) of primary cycle, 510 teacher's guides and several teaching materials composed of globes and other materials for mathematics.
The distribution of the textbooks, guides and teaching materials was also very much appreciated by the parents of the students in the different schools as it was a relief for them in view of the difficulty of finding textbooks for their children.
With more than 40 years of presence in Chad, COOPI continues to support the most vulnerable children by ensuring their access to education.
