Chad. Training Seminar for responding to the educational needs of young people
As part of its project "Inclusive, quality response to the educational needs of the most vulnerable children and young people affected by the Lake Chad crisis", funded by the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations European Union, (ECHO), COOPI – Cooperazione Internazionale organized a training workshop on the theme "Approach to Literacy and Non-Formal Education". The workshop took place at the Maison de Culture in Bol in the period between 2 to 6 November, 2022.
A total of 22 participants benefited from this training, including 14 facilitators for the 7 Non-Formal Basic Education Centers (CEBNF) and 8 facilitators for the 8 Literacy centers, all established by COOPI. The training was led by executives from the Ministry of Education's Department of Non-Formal Education together with the Department of Literacy and Promotion of National Languages.
The representative of the Provincial Delegate for National Education and Civic Promotion of the Lake Region praised the support of COOPI and ECHO. For him, this training will help increase access to education for children, adults and teenagers.
COOPI's long history of presence in Chad since 1967 gives us a great awareness of the problems present in the country and the potential to find the best solutions. Currently, in the Lake Chad area, COOPI is active in various fields: Emergency Education for internally displaced children, Psychosocial Support for trauma victims, and improving sanitation and access to clean water through an approach that aims to reduce the risks of natural disasters.
