The political instability following the Arab Spring of 2011, the terrorist acts of 2015 and the growing influence of Islamist parties have negatively affected the country's economy, bringing unemployment levels, especially youth unemployment, to levels the country has never experienced.

In 2020, the pandemic crisis added to this panorama, causing job losses in the tourism sector already collapsing and migration (Tunisia is both a transit and departure country for Europe).

COOPI's priority is to restore economic and social hope to Tunisians and migrants in transit by creating wealth and employment opportunities with the simultaneous aim of combating one of the major causes of migration and offering employment prospects to young people who, unemployed, are easy prey to radical recruitment.

Present in the country since 2020, COOPI is working with national and international partners in the area of the capital Tunis.
