Iraq. A job fair on International Youth Day.
On the occasion of International Youth Day, a job fair was organised on 12 August at the Youth Centre in Akre, Iraq. The event was designed and managed by COOPI - International Cooperation in cooperation with the Youth Directorate of Akre, which organised workshops for young people on job search topics, such as CV writing, interviewing and searching for employment opportunities through social media. Five local companies were invited to the fair to collect CVs from young people and offer opportunities to those who are qualified and experienced in technical work.
The Youth Directorate also conducted trainings on cyberbullying and the effect of drugs on young people. Finally, it was possible for boys and girls under the age of 18 to take part in varied entertainment experiences, both in the sporting sphere, through tennis sessions, and in the artistic sphere, as some young people were able to demonstrate their talent by drawing creative pictures symbolizing Youth Day.
COOPI has been working in Iraq since 2014, with educational, water and sanitation and livelihood activities. Since 2019, the humanitarian crisis in the country has worsened, with the emergence of situations of difficult social cohesion and educational and employment opportunities for young people under the age of 24, around 70% of the population are limited.
