Sudan. Long waits for NGO visas, emergency can't wait.
The Sudan INGO forum, of which COOPI - International Cooperation is a member, calls on delegates in the city of Jeddah, who are committed to ensuring regional stability in the Country, for immediate action to facilitate and expedite visa access for NGOs operating in the humanitarian emergency in Sudan. With waiting times exceeding two months for visa applications, humanitarian NGOs are severely hampered in providing timely assistance to the people of Sudan.
In Sudan, after four months of conflict between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the rival paramilitary force, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the number of internally displaced people is over 3 million. The Sudanese population needs rapid primary assistance to stem the continuing attacks by the armed forces that threaten access to water, medical care, and sanitation.
The INGO Forum Sudan is the representative body of international humanitarian organizations acting in the Country's 18 states. The Forum aims to facilitate communication and outline joint action among its 70 members to facilitate humanitarian, development and peacebuilding response in Sudan.
