Together against crises: COOPI Meeting begins!

From 24 to 29 October the 11th COOPI Meeting will be held in Milan at the headquarters of COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale. It is an event where all COOPI managers in the world will meet: about sixty people from Italy and about fifty from 25 different countries (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Libya, Mali, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Nigeria, Senegal, Niger, Mauritania, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia) will participate.

The COOPI Meeting aims to give unity to the work of the Organisation in various parts of the world: through sessions, working groups and in-depth discussions, participants will have the opportunity to share what is being done in terms of projects, tools, activities; to take up new lines of action and reflect on the development of the organisation.

In the 2022 programme, the experience of COOPI's Regional Decentralisation will be valorised, a process that has been in progress since 2019 and that has led to the formation of 5 Regional Coordinations, with the aim of responding with greater decision-making speed to crises, fostering the organisation's rootedness in the local fabric and strengthening the participation of local actors in intervention projects. In addition, the programme includes the presentation of COOPI's new organisation chart, in particular the description of the tasks and functions of the Emergency Unit; this will be followed by a series of meetings to discuss new priorities, perspectives and working tools in the areas of planning, project monitoring and evaluation, control and administrative and financial management. Lastly, the programme includes the presentation of COOPI's Social Report 2021 and the Final Economic Balance Sheet 2021.

The COOPI Meeting will end on 29 October with the final event 'The Near Future: International Cooperation in Times of Global Crises', a debate that will revolve around the combined effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and conflicts, the energy crisis and climate change, as well as food security and poverty in Italy and around the world. To find out more, click here.
