Zambia and Malawi: the active role of NGOs in achieving the 2030 Agenda

On the occasion of the fifth edition of the Sustainable Development Festival, on 13 October at 15:00, COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale will take part in the meeting organised by the Italian Embassy in Malawi and Zambia, together with other NGOs, to discuss the role played by humanitarian organisations in the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To participate, please consult this link.

Since COOPI has been working in Malawi from 1999 managing multi-sectoral interventions, it will contribute to the discussion through its Country Coordinator, Giuseppe Valerio. Valerio will present the connection between COOPI's activities and the goals outlined in the UN 2030 Agenda, namely:

  • achieving food security and ensuring healthy life and well-being of every individual (Goals 2 and 3);
  • ensuring access to energy services (Goal 7);
  • training people to cope climate change effects by protecting the environment and ensuring more inclusive and sustainable urbanisation (Goals 11, 12 and 13).

The event will be introduced and presented by the Ambassador of Italy to Zambia and Malawi, Antonino Maggiore.

It aims at raising awareness among citizens, particularly the younger generation, on issues concerning environmental, economic and social sustainability. The Sustainable Development Festival is organised by ASVIS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development), in which COOPI participates through Link2007.
