Where We Work

Uganda

According to recent data published by the World Bank, Uganda is experiencing an extremely critical period due to the economic stalemate caused by Covid-19 pandemic. Household incomes have declined, further increasing the poverty status of Ugandans.

COOPI has been supporting the most vulnerable by continuing the Child Sponsorship Program, ensuring continued access to education and proper hygiene and health practices for children in the schools of the slum of Kampala, the Capital.

Despite the closure of the schools for two years, COOPI continued to pay the students' fees and support teachers in their work, providing didactic materials, food assistance, medical and non-medical devices to students with disabilities, and even managing extracurricular activities.

Since 2000 COOPI has been working in the country to support women and children above anything else. The purpose is two-fold: preventing sexual violence on the one hand and fighting mothers and children malnutrition on the other. Since 2006, we are here with Child Sponsorship Program. All these projects are managed in partnership with local organisations.
