The Foundation stated in its award speech:
Our struggle is also your struggle, because sometimes this road can feel lonely for those who arrive in a new country with many hopes, but without a support network, for those of us who are exiled by our families or violated by society just for loving and being true to what we feel.
Fundación Mujer & Mujer is a civil society organization that has been working for two decades to promote and defend the human rights of women and LGBTIQ+ people in Ecuador. The foundation has several humanitarian assistance projects that promote support for women and LGBTIQ+ people, migrants, refugees and the host population who are at risk and vulnerable. Through its projects, it provides free assistance in legal and psychosocial areas, community work and specialized care to women survivors of gender-based violence.
