Jordan. A Training of Trainers on Child Protection Case Management

From July 8 to 11, 2024, COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale organized a Training of Trainers course focused on child protection case management. This training course is designed to further develop the capacities of personnel from the Ministry of Social Development, case managers from COOPI, and local Community-Based Organizations who are actively engaged in Sanadak project “protection and inclusion for vulnerable adolescents for governorates of Irbid, Karak and Zarqa”.

The training was designed to empower participants with essential skills to bolster their proficiency in case management practices and to effectively disseminate the knowledge gained. On the first day, participants were introduced to the training objectives and the child-centred approach and safeguarding. During the second day, participants were divided into working groups to identify child protection concerns, as well as the consequences of child abuse and other harmful practices.

The third day was dedicated to case management processes, starting from the identification and registration phase, through planning and implementation, conducting follow-ups and case closure. Simulation of real case studies was the core training part of the last training day, where the trainer asked a group of participants to act as a family whose girl is with protection needs and the caregiver is requesting for protection case management services. By the end of the day, participation certificates were distributed to participants.

The training is a key component of Sanadak project implementation, reflecting its commitment to fostering a robust child protection system. Through this effort, COOPI aims to create a ripple effect of knowledge and expertise that will ultimately benefit children in need of protection services. Since March 2023, in Jordan COOPI has been implementing “the Sanadak - protection and inclusion for vulnerable adolescents in the governorates of Irbid, Karak and Zarqa” project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), which offers services of social protection for children and families in need.

In Jordan since 2017, COOPI has been carrying out protection activities targeting both the local population and Syrian refugees in the country, paying special attention to women, people with disabilities, ex-detainees and minors. Among its various protection activities, in Jordan COOPI promotes case management initiatives for minors and women, psychological and psychosocial support, and awareness sessions for vulnerable adults.
