Jordan. New opportunities for chef Ahmad thanks to training course

Ahmad Kayed, 32, has given a boost to his cooking business, which he now runs from home, thanks to the project “Saqel: Pathways to professional growth for inclusive economic development in the Governorates of Zarqa and Irbid," in Jordan, which started in March 2022, implemented by COOPI - Cooperazione Internazionale thanks to funding from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and in collaboration with the Italian Association of Women for Development (AIDOS), Education for Employment Jordan (EFE) and Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD).

His experience in the project has been important for his life and business; therefore, he explains:

The best thing I learned from the training course that has benefited my business is the marketing module. My communication approach has attracted new clients, and I have taken additional measures because of the techniques learned during the course. I am grateful for the opportunity I was given: it showed me the importance of customer satisfaction, how to identify and address challenges. As well as learning skills on the visual aspect, such as creating a logo."

Thanks to the project and especially the training course Ahmad was able to attract new clients. In particular, he explains how he managed to give support to an acquaintance of his who did not have time to cook, proposing a suitable solution, explaining the different cooking methods and hygiene of the whole process, leading her to be one of the most trusted customers.

The project, which aims to improve socio-economic conditions by fostering inclusive access and income opportunities through the creation or strengthening of micro or small enterprises, promotes inclusive economic growth in compliance with decent work standards and targets especially the most vulnerable Syrian and Jordanian population.

This opportunity, with the support of COOPI and partners, was critical for Ahmad to relaunch his chef business and make himself recognizable to new potential customers.
