Lebanon: painting and theater in schools!
Hooray for art! As planned within the “ScEGLi Program: Schools and Education in Jordan and Lebanon”, financed by AICS (Italian Agency for Development Cooperation), the young students of three schools in Tripoli area had the opportunity of painting some walls of their respective buildings and of watching a theatrical play.
During the first activity, students of boys’ school “Tarablos Al Oula” painted 6 walls, while the girls of female school “Dawhat Al Adab” painted 7. The amount was 3 for students of Public Khalil Salem in Bterram, where the painting is scheduled for next year as well.
In each case, the activity- which took place between mid-April and mid-May 2018- was carried out with the purpose of having the students provide a first person contribution to the decoration of the walls (which were restored recently), while also being able to explore and experiment with different painting techniques.
Additionally, 1050 students from the same schools had the chance to watch “Friends forever”, a play centered around the importance of friendship. The show- a shared effort between artistic collective “Sweet Group”, COOPI and the boards of the 3 schools- was performed in Tripoli on May 2nd and 3rd, and in Bterram on May 14th.
Here are the photos of the painting activity and of the play.
