Since 2012, armed and intercommunal conflict in the north and centre of Mali have plunged the country into deep uncertainty.
The high level of insecurity has forced the population to flee their villages, thus increasing the number of unaccompanied or separated minors, recruited by armed groups or at risk of being recruited.
Given the weak structure of governmental community mechanisms for child protection in the regions of Mopti, COOPI intervenes in the child protection sector, acting as a reference point to take action against and prevent the violations of children's rights.
By following a participatory and gender-based approach, some 8,200 children affected by the crisis and other vulnerable children will benefit from temporary care services, family reunification support and reintegration solutions in their communities of origin.
