Sudan. COOPI expresses solidarity with WFP for the loss of three aid workers

COOPI-Cooperazione Internazionale expresses solidarity with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the families of the victims of the bombing that took place on December 19 in the Nile State, Sudan. During this airstrike, three humanitarian workers lost their lives while operating in the field.

In 2024, a year marked by countless conflicts and the tragic loss of many humanitarian workers, it is crucial to renew the #NotATarget appeal, emphasizing the dedication of humanitarian workers supporting civilians and the urgent need to ensure their safety.

Our colleagues at WFP have long been on the front lines to address one of the world’s most severe food crises, distributing food and essential goods to support families in Sudan.

At COOPI, we are currently collaborating with the World Food Programme in North Darfur State, where we are implementing a project aimed at enhancing resilience and social cohesion. Together, we are increasing livelihood opportunities, ensuring access to basic social services, improving food security, and helping to reduce tensions between communities and internally displaced people.
